I enjoyed everything besides the pinto beans……. The Sonoran Dog consisted of an all beef frank, smoked bacon, pinto beans, jack cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeños, mustard and mayo. I had to grab a fork and a knife to make it manageable. I originally tried to eat it with my hands at first but realized my hands were too small (insert all the jokes here). Troy really enjoyed his Mexican burger which came with a double steak burger, grilled all beef hot dog, smashed avocado, pickled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, ltop, mustard and mayo. There was no question once we received our food, the portion sizes were huge and you wouldn’t leave hungry. Perhaps another name for the sauce should be “Quick Divorce”. It’s a quick bit of heat that punches you in the back of the throat and leaves quickly. It’s probably their hottest sauce but it doesn’t linger and stay long. At their drink counter, they had three sauce options available. Over lunch time, we had the Mexican burger, a Sonoran hot dog, an al pastor taco and a Bam Bam shrimp taco. The new location is a combination of both their tacos and burgers.įor this review I was joined by Troy from the Wichita YouTube Channel Live Local. These DVGs manifest as genomes with complementary ends, deleterious point mutations, deletions, insertions, mosaic rearrangements, or a combination of these. Viral infections give rise to degenerate forms of the viral genome, known as defective viral genomes (DVGs), as a by-product of virus replication. Our approach establishes the method to interrogate the DVG fitness landscape, and enables the systematic identification of DVGs that show promise as human therapeutics and vector control strategies to mitigate arbovirus transmission and disease. Finally, we demonstrate that the high fitness DVG is antiviral in vivo both in the mammalian host and the mosquito vector, reducing transmission in the latter by up to 90%. We show that the most fit DVGs conserve the open reading frame to maintain the translation of the remaining non-structural proteins, a characteristic that is fundamental across the flavivirus genus. This approach identifies fit DVGs that optimally interfere with wild-type virus infection. We present a combined experimental evolution and computational approach to triage DVG sequence space and pinpoint the fittest deletions, using Zika virus as an arbovirus model. While DVGs have been described for most viruses, identifying which, if any, can be used as therapeutic agents remains a challenge. Here, we exploit the natural capacity of viruses to generate defective viral genomes (DVGs) to their detriment. Thus, innovative strategies for their control and prevention are urgently needed. Nature Communications volume 12, Article number: 2290 ( 2021)Īrthropod-borne viruses pose a major threat to global public health. Defective viral genomes as therapeutic interfering particles against flavivirus infection in mammalian and mosquito hosts A YEAR AGO, I GOT IT TO RUN! Seriously, I got it to work after 2 months of trying. NOW, I guess is that some would now say that perhaps my card can't run 3.3, but:Ģ) There are people who say that "Any hardware that supports OpenGL 3.1 is capable of supporting OpenGL 3.3. I did download the newest drivers for both graphics cards on my laptop (that is both the Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M) and I did launch a software called "OpenGL Extensions Viewer", and it displays that I should be able to run OpenGL version 3.1 The error is sporadic, I can't track it down to any one thing.Ok so I'm trying to use the tutorials at: but I keep getting an error message that pops for like a second saying "Unable to create OpenGL 3.3 context (flags 1, profile 1)", there's also a bunch of pdb files missing. I just changed the video card driving the monotor to a 1080Ti and so far have not had the openGL error. That's usually a port more similar to USB 3.1 than anything else. Some of the newer motherboards don't use HDMI for the integrated video, but use Thunderbolt instead. There is a program called openGL Extensions Viewer 5.0 by realtech VR that you can download & use to troubleshoot just how many GPUs and openGL/openCL software stacks you have installed on your computer. I'm a bit surprise your computer which all the room a desktop has, hasn't an HDMI port for the intel GPU you have. If you have a i-core intel CPU you have an integrated intel HD Graphics card and the Microsoft or Intel drivers for the GPU. However, the error message given by QT Library was the same misleading one you are getting. Only time I have gotten that error was using a beta animation creation product that is using the QT library too and in that case the problem was unequivocally that the beta animation program was using QT to build the program UI and that UI was wrapping openGL & openCL calls results in the UI for the display and my 2nd generation intel i5-2620m could not do the openCL functions the program wanted to do because the onboard intel HD Graphics 3000 could only do openGL 3.1 and no openCL at all. However, it was occuring some time ago then did not occur for some months then recently it started up again which is why I wonder if it is due to some recent Windows or DS update (or misaligment of these two). The error is sporadic, I can't track it down to any one thing. The monitor is connected to an Nvidia card, not directly to the motherboard. Change your display cable to another display HDMI port. The error is coming from the QT library driving your display so you can be almost sure that you are driving your display with an intel GPU HDMI port. So you will have openGL, openCL, and directX drivers for both the Intel GPU and the AMD/nVidia GPUs and if your intel CPU is generation 2 or earlier you will not have recent openGL drivers. I checked the back of the computer and there are no VGA/HDMI ports other than the Nvidia cards (the monitor is plugged into card1), so that would suggest no onboard video card.Įvery Intel CPU that is i3, i5, i7, or i9 have an integrated intel GPU, regardless if you have an AMD or nVidia discrete GPU installed additionally. is there a socket for the monitor to connect to by your USB and keyboard slots (this could be VGA or HDMI, never seen a motherboard with built in DVI to date)? If there is, you have onboard video and this is likely to be the issue as advised by Richard The easiest way to check if you have one is look at the back. You can also check the BIOS before loading in to Windows and check that your onboard video if you have one is disabled or is set to use PCI-e 1st or DS will continue to look to the onboard before anything else. Check the driver in Device Manager and check that it is using the NVidia official not the Microsoft basic driver (also be aware that Win updates could have corrupted the onboard driver and it may be showing further down as an unknown device but still trying to access it). Following on from what Richard Haseltine has said it is common for Windows updates to switch to it's default driver but the NVidia OEM driver may sometimes (sadly not always) still be installed. While controlling the keyboard brightness is nice, you can still use the physical keys to control the keyboard brightness, especially if you can't find much use for the Dictation and Do Not Disturb function keys on your Mac.įortunately, you can bring back the old behavior with the help of a simple app. Remap keyboard brightness keys on MacBook Air Now, by clicking on the Keyboard Brightness icon in the menu bar, the brightness slider will appear instantly. Open Control Center, click on the "Keyboard Brightness" control and drag it to the menu bar. If you adjust the keyboard brightness often, you can pin the Keyboard Brightness command to the menu bar itself. Then use the slider to increase or decrease the keyboard brightness. Here, select the “Keyboard Brightness” button. To get started, click on the Control Center icon (next to the time and date). You'll find a module dedicated to keyboard brightness in macOS Control Center (available in macOS Big Sur and above). Adjust keyboard brightness using Control Center on Mac You can also install a third-party app to remap the F5 and F6 keys to the old keyboard brightness behavior. So how do you increase keyboard brightness or activate keyboard lighting on your Macbook Air now that the keys are missing? You can simply use the Brightness slider on the Control Center keyboard. The company replaced the launchpad and keyboard brightness control keys with Spotlight, Dictation, and Do Not Disturb buttons. With the introduction of the 2020 MacBook Air with an M1 chip, Apple changed the keyboard design of the MacBook Air. Apple Adjust the keyboard brightness on an Apple Silicon MacBook Air On your MacBook Air keyboard, press the F5 key to decrease the keyboard brightness and press the F6 key to increase the keyboard brightness. If you're using a MacBook Air made before the MacBook Air 2020 M1 (when Apple switched to its own Apple Silicon chip), it's actually pretty easy to manually adjust the keyboard brightness. However, to date there are relatively few studies on male reproductive success in bonobos, and additional research is necessary to confirm that these purported species differences are not merely an artefact of having insufficient data to represent the range of variation present in these species. Possible explanations for this particularly high skew include maternal support of sires, female choice acting to enhance the reproductive success of desirable males, and high group cohesion leading to few opportunities for lower-ranking males to exert alternative strategies such as consortship or sneaky copulation. Intriguingly, however, two recent studies found higher levels of reproductive skew in bonobos than in chimpanzees. In contrast, closely related bonobos ( Pan paniscus) are characterized by lower rates of male aggression and relatively higher female social ranks, which could be expected to lead to lower reproductive skew as compared to chimpanzees. Male reproductive success in chimpanzee communities is therefore skewed, but variably so. In larger communities, alpha males may be able to exert relatively less control over mating opportunities, especially in the presence of multiple simultaneously receptive females. Nonetheless, subordinate males also sire offspring, particularly through the use of strategies such as opportunistic mating and consortship. Males form a linear dominance hierarchy, with alpha males typically siring a disproportionate share of offspring. Sexually receptive females typically mate with multiple males, and although female chimpanzee estrous cycles are asynchronous, simultaneous sexual receptivity of multiple females commonly occurs. They live in multimale/multifemale “communities” that vary in size from approximately 20 to 200 members. Ĭhimpanzees ( Pan troglodytes) offer a useful opportunity to investigate how demographic and social factors are linked to male reproductive skew. In multimale primate species, reproductive skew typically decreases as a function of increasing numbers of males and receptive females, underscoring an important role for demographic factors in predicting the reproductive success of dominant males. In addition, social factors include the costs and benefits to dominant males of ceding opportunities to maintain group stability, garner support, or gain inclusive fitness benefits by allowing mating opportunities for subordinate males. Demographic factors include the number of rival males and reproductive females as these increase, the ability of the dominant male to control mating opportunities tends to decrease. Models of reproductive skew typically focus on the demographic and social factors relevant to male reproductive success. Nonetheless, even for dominant males high rank does not ensure complete control over reproductive opportunities. In many species, social rank reflects the outcomes of potentially costly competition among males, but these costs are frequently offset for high-ranking males by an increase in reproductive success. Sexual selection theory predicts that males compete for access to a limited number of females. The interaction of small community size, dispersal limitations, and male reproductive strategies like those found here may decrease genetic diversity and increase the risk of concomitant inbreeding in chimpanzee communities under strong anthropogenic pressure. Our findings underscore the role of demographic and social factors in male reproductive success and also suggest that conclusions about species differences may be premature. The skew exceeds that reported in other studies of chimpanzees as well as closely related bonobos ( Pan paniscus). In a small community of eastern chimpanzees inhabiting a human-dominated landscape in Bulindi, Uganda, we found extraordinarily high levels of alpha male reproductive success over a 5-year period (7/8 offspring = 88%), despite the presence of multiple subordinate males. Alpha male chimpanzees ( Pan troglodytes) often sire a disproportionate, though somewhat variable, percentage of offspring compared to other males. In multimale primate species, reproductive skew tends to decrease with increasing numbers of males and sexually receptive females. Social rank is positively correlated with reproductive success in numerous species, albeit demographic factors often influence those patterns. Were they the right kind of interactions for the kind of game Thatgamecompany was seeking to make? "It was not leading to that feeling of connection," Santiago says. "It seems obvious that the more people you have, the number of interactions you can have as a group increases." Interactions between players sound like just the kind of things that multiplayer game designers are interested in, but with Journey it was never so simple. "There were just a lot of dynamics with four ," explains Kellee Santiago, co-founder of Thatgamecompany and the studio head during the production of Journey. And they were already revealing interesting things about the ways that multiplayer games work. The prototype she saw was fairly basic, but playtests were already on the way. "When I went to visit, people were working on a top-down 2D version of a little game which four people could play at once," remembers Robin Hunicke, who would soon join the team as a producer. And the answer, surprisingly, has more to do with what you take out than what you put in. So how do you get people to engage emotionally with other players in a multiplayer game? This would be the defining question for Journey, from the prototype through to the final release. Can we do a Thatgamecompany spin - change the emotional feel - of a multiplayer game? That's how we started." "I wanted to show the world that it's possible to have a game where you are truly emotionally engaged and connected to another person," explains Chen. You go to your friend's farm to click something, but so what?Īnd what about Journey? How was a game so sparse - and yet somehow so luxurious - born from a desire to make an MMO in the first place? How did its simple narrative of a desert crossing - enlivened, if you are lucky, by the random players who join your game for one section or another - emerge from the busy factions and cities and battle-plains of Azeroth? "Everyone was saying that the future was social games, but the games weren't really social." Chen had seen a few Zynga money-spinners, for example, but while he grasped the game part, the social aspect of something like Farmville didn't seem to move beyond the purely mechanical. "What we were taught in school is to push the boundary," says Chen. Scale is only one aspect of an MMO, though. These games are beautiful, but, they remain compact - nothing like the sprawl of a Warcraft. In Flower, you are a handful of petals riding the winds. In Flow, you are a tiny amoeba or some such, swimming about in the watery deep. And he always knew that he wanted to make an MMO one day - a form of games that are synonymous, rightly or wrongly, with scope and scale.Īnd yet when Chen started to make games, the games his studio turned out tended to be small - or at least they seemed small, before you got properly into them. Jenova Chen, the co-founder of Thatgamecompany and creative director of Journey, played a lot of World of Warcraft during grad school. |
